Amphenol Aerospace's FiberQuad contacts embed a fiber optic transmitter or receiver directly inside a standard Quadrax contact. They drop into existing Quadrax 38999 connectors for a plug-and-play ruggedized fiber link. Amphenol Aerospace's FiberQuad Ruggedized Quadrax Contacts embed a complete fiber optic transmitter or receiver inside a standard Quadrax contact. Each contact fits within existing Amphenol Quadrax 38999 connectors, so designers can add fiber optic links without changing connector shells or backshells. FiberQuad supports speeds up to 28.05 Gbps and wavelengths of 1,300 nm, 1,310 nm, and 850 nm. This support includes legacy protocols such as 100-Base-FX and modern protocols, including encoded and pathological data. Onboard diagnostics include a transmit-enable pin for transmitters and a loss-of-signal pin for receivers. The contacts are rated from −40 to +85°C for rugged aerospace and defense environments. Typical applications include Ethernet, Fiber Channel, ARINC-818, PCI-Express, and InfiniBand.
