Infineon's Peripheral Driver Library was created on the premise of ARM’s Cortex Microcontoller Software Interface Standard, CMSIS. This software standard is to provide users with a consistent and simple software interface for the processor to interface to peripherals and middleware across all Cortex-M products among vendors. The CMSIS standard enables developers to easily create, migrate, and cost reduce embedded applications on any Cortex-M product. Infineon's implementation of the CMSIS standard is the PDL that contains a collection of low-level driver functions for initializing and configuring peripherals, middleware for implementing the drivers, and several examples for each peripheral.
