Layerscape addresses key Artificial Intelligence and machine learning functions. Many AI applications rely on image classification as the basic step. It all starts with capturing video and audio from a camera (this signal gets into the CPU via USB, Ethernet or ISP). Then it goes to the AI Classification using the CPU, GPU or an Accelerator. Then, the information comes to the processing part for the real application for which the image was taken. This is made by the CPU, along with the video compression that needs to keep feeding the AI machine in the cloud or storing the information somewhere (for which is needed high-speed connectivity peripherals). This is the reason why the designer needs high-computing power in the edge along with high-speed connectivity peripherals and a hardware accelerator.
